Everyone knows Trocadéro for Eiffel Tower sunrise but it's getting crowded. Here are my secret spots:

Pont Neuf at 6:30am: Whole bridge to yourself, incredible Seine light hitting Île de la Cité. Classic Paris postcard without anyone else.

Place des Vosges: Red brick arcades glowing in morning light, shadows perfect for portraits. Coffee truck usually there by 7am at Rue de Birague corner.

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont: Temple de la Sibylle on the cliff, 360° city views from Belleville heights. Worth the trek from center via Line 7 bis for the drama.

Bring thermos coffee, dress warmly. Golden hour starts 30 minutes before actual sunrise, hits Haussmann limestone perfectly.

Download Gojek before your flight lands because Ngurah Rai's WiFi is absolutely useless. GoCar rides to popular areas like Kuta or Seminyak typically cost 50,000-70,000 IDR ($3.30-4.60), but surge to 100,000+ during rain or peak hours. Still dramatically cheaper than the 200,000+ IDR those aggressive airport taxi touts will demand - they literally follow you around the terminal.

Golden rule: if it's raining when you land, grab a coffee at Starbucks (Level 1 arrivals) and wait 30 minutes. Surge pricing drops fast once the rain stops, often saving you 30,000-50,000 IDR for literally just being patient. The pickup zone recently moved to the departure level (not arrivals anymore) - clearly marked with green Gojek signs. Don't let random guys in vests "help" you find your driver; they're just trying to hustle a tip.

Essential first stop: Telkomsel booth immediately after customs for a local SIM card. 50GB data package costs 150,000 IDR and gives you reliable internet for booking rides throughout your trip. Hotel WiFi is notoriously spotty in Bali, especially during peak season when everyone's streaming and posting. Having your own data means you can book rides from remote beaches or rice terraces without hunting for signal.

Perfect lighting tip: early morning and late afternoon rides offer incredible photo opportunities. The soft golden light filtering through rice paddies between the airport and Ubud creates those dreamy shots everyone thinks are heavily filtered - they're just good timing.

Everyone shoots the Eiffel Tower from Trocadéro at sunset. These spots give you better light without the tourist crowds around Champ de Mars.

Pont de la Tournelle — View of Notre Dame and Île Saint-Louis, gorgeous reflections in Seine near 5th arrondissement. Best light 30 minutes before sunset, bring a polarizing filter for the water.

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont — Rolling hills and Temple de la Sibylle overlooking 19th arrondissement. Climb to the top for 360-degree views over Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur. Golden hour here is magical, especially in autumn with Belleville backdrop.

Pont Neuf at dawn — Empty streets, soft morning light hitting Louvre across the water and Île de la Cité. Get there by 6:30am in summer for that dreamy mist over Seine near Place Dauphine.

Square du Vert-Galant — Tiny park at tip of Île de la Cité behind Pont Neuf. Perfect for sunset shots looking west along Seine toward 7th arrondissement. Hardly anyone knows about it, locals use it for picnics away from tourist zones.

El Rey ruins at sunset is absolutely magical for photos. Most people skip this Mayan site because it's small, but that's exactly why it's perfect. The light hits those ancient stones around 6pm and you'll have the place almost to yourself.

For sunrise shots, walk down to Playa Delfines early - the elevated platform gives you that perfect view over the coastline. The lifeguard stations make great foreground elements too. Just bring bug spray because the mosquitos are real at dawn.
