Ok so everyone goes to the louvre during the day when its absolutely packed and you spend more time looking at peoples heads than actual art. But Wednesday and Friday nights it stays open until 9:45pm and its like a totally different museum
Way fewer people different lighting and you can actually spend time with paintings you want to see. Mona lisa is still crowded but everything else is manageable. Plus the pyramid looks incredible lit up from inside when you leave
Tickets are same price as day visits book on their website. Just dont expect cafes to be open most close around 6pm
Everyone does catamaran party boats to isla mujeres for like $80 but honestly the regular ferry is SO much better
Ultramar ferry from puerto juarez only 200 pesos round trip (like $11) runs every 30 minutes. Takes 20 minutes and you see the actual water instead of being trapped on booze cruise with drunk spring breakers
Once there rent golf cart 400-500 pesos for day and explore whole island. Playa norte is gorgeous and free, underwater sculpture museum is wild if you snorkel, food way cheaper than cancun
Pro tip: weekdays if possible. Weekends are crazy with locals from cancun too. Bring cash most places dont take cards
The airbnb situation in paris is honestly bonkers right now. So many listings are just hotels pretending to be apartments, or apartments with like 6 separate rooms being rented out.
Stayed in what was supposed to be a 'cozy studio in montmartre' and it was literally a converted closet with a murphy bed. Host had like 47 other listings all identical. Felt like a scam hotel operation
Better options: mama shelter hotels are like €80-120/night and actually fun, plus you know what you're getting. Or look at smaller boutique places on booking.com. The hotel des grands boulevards is gorgeous if you can swing €200+.
If you do airbnb anyway, reverse image search the photos and make sure the host has real reviews going back years. Too many new accounts with fake reviews now. Trust your gut if something feels off
Everyone freaks out about june-november but honestly most days are just normal beach weather with afternoon thunderstorms that last like 30 minutes
Ive been in september three times and never had a ruined trip. Worst was one day of heavy rain and even that was kind of cozy. Hotel prices drop like 50% and beaches are way less crowded
Just get travel insurance and book refundable stuff. The weather apps track hurricanes 5-7 days out so you have warning. Most of hurricane season is just... Humid with brief storms
September was actually perfect weather and saved me probably $800 on hotels. October too. The horror stories are overblown
Found this out by accident when walking along the river near pont neuf. There are these little electric boats you can rent for like €35/hour without needing a license or anything.
Way better than the tourist cruise boats because you can go at your own pace and actually stop places. The boats fit 5-6 people so split with friends its pretty reasonable. They give you a basic map and send you off.
You see paris from this completely different angle and can go under all the bridges tourists just walk over. Plus you feel like youre in some french movie or whatever. Just dont try to stand up while moving because apparently thats how you end up in the seine (not that i know from experience or anything).
