Traditional Thai tea at Baan Rim Nam — upscale tea house experience
Tucked away near Naklua Market, this family-run tea house serves traditional Thai tea (cha yen) made the old way - with real Ceylon tea and spices, not the artificial orange powder most places use. The tea has a rich amber color and complex flavor that bears no resemblance to the neon tourist version. While street cart versions offer authentic flavors too, this establishment provides a more refined tea house setting.
They also serve excellent Thai milk tea (cha nom yen) and if you're feeling adventurous, try their cha manao - Thai tea with fresh lime that's incredibly refreshing. Prices reflect the sit-down experience: 35 THB for cha yen, 40 THB for the milk version.
The grandmother who runs the place speaks limited English but will happily explain the different teas if you show interest. Open mornings and afternoons, closed during the hot midday hours like any sensible tea establishment. Perfect for those wanting proper Thai tea in a comfortable indoor setting rather than street-side.
