sumida river fireworks (late july): million people watching fireworks over the river. Arrive 3 hours early for decent spots but the atmosphere is unreal.

sanja matsuri (may): asakusa goes completely wild for 3 days. Street food everywhere, sake flowing, and the most authentic festival vibe in the city!

Pro tip: stay near the festival areas during these times. Hotels book up but the 24/7 party atmosphere is worth the planning!
