Carnaval de Paris happens every March — Traditional parade through the streets with floats, costumes, music. It's free and way more authentic than tourist stuff. Starts at République and goes through Le Marais. The energy is infectious!

Brazilian community does Carnaval events in Belleville — Samba schools, street parties, proper feijoada. Check the Maison du Brésil facebook for dates. The percussion groups are world-class.

Dunkirk carnival is 3 hours by train and absolutely wild — Thousands of people in costumes throwing herring from balconies. Sounds crazy but it's one of France's biggest festivals. You'll smell like fish but it's unforgettable!

Even if you miss official events, the Brazilian restaurants in Belleville and République throw parties all season. Açaí bars turn into dance clubs on weekend nights!
