Nightlife Tips for Amsterdam
Bars, clubs, live music, and evening entertainment
This microscopic bar claims to be Amsterdam's smallest cafe and it's open until 1am Wednesday through Saturday. Three tiny tables, walls covered in old bottles, and bartenders who know their jenever.
Perfect nightcap spot after dinner in the Red Light District. They serve traditional Dutch gin properly chilled and their beer selection focuses on local breweries. Cash only, no food, pure drinking establishment.
When everything else closes at 1am, Soundgarden on Marnixstraat keeps going until 3am on weekends. Dive bar atmosphere, cheap drinks, and locals who actually want to chat with travelers. €3 beers, €6 cocktails.
Gets busy after 1am when people filter out of the tourist areas. Much better vibe than the overpriced late night spots in the center.
Most brown cafés close at 2am weekends but the night doesn't die. Club NYX and Paradiso stay open until 5am Friday/Saturday. For late food, FEBO on Reguliersbreestraat has those famous wall vending machines open until 3am — Grab a kroket for €2.50.
Night shops like Avondmarkt on Nieuwmarkt stay open until 3am for emergency beer runs. Leidseplein has the most late options but the real locals head to Café de Reiger on Nieuwe Leliestraat — Open until 3am with proper jenever, not tourist cocktails. Take tram 13 or 17 from Centraal to get there.
