Went on deepavali thinking it'd be fine. Biggest mistake of the trip.

Every ride had 2-3 hour waits, park was shoulder-to-shoulder, even buying food took 45 minutes. Save your money and sanity. Tuesday or Wednesday when locals work. Same rides, lower crowds, actually enjoyable. Or just skip entirely — Singapore has better entertainment options.

Esplanade hosts free outdoor concerts on waterfront stage every Saturday and Sunday evening. Singapore symphony orchestra members, jazz ensembles, traditional groups - proper professional level

Shows start 7pm, run about an hour. Bring picnic blanket because lawn seating fills fast. Acoustics are surprisingly good, marina bay skyline backdrop. Check their website but there's almost always something weekends

The Esplanade Concourse (1 Esplanade Drive, Promenade MRT) hosts free outdoor programmes featuring conservatory graduates and professional musicians. Not buskers — Real jazz quartets, classical ensembles, Chinese orchestras performing quality music.

Outdoor spaces offer seating with Marina Bay skyline and Merlion backdrop. Current schedule shows weekend afternoon performances 4-6pm, weekday evening slots 7-8pm. The acoustics are surprisingly good and you get Singapore's iconic cityscape as setting.

Way better value than S$80-150 indoor concert hall shows. Grab laksa from nearby hawker stalls and enjoy world-class music with million-dollar views for free. Check website for Chinese New Year special performances and National Day themed concerts.

Universal studios singapore becomes an expensive exercise in crowd management during school holidays. Spent chinese new year there once - paid full price for 4 rides total after waiting 2-3 hours each

If you must go, visit on weekday mornings in february/march when schools are in session. Otherwise you're paying premium prices for a glorified queue simulator. The rides are decent but not worth half your singapore budget

Just returned from chinese new year at uss and it was a complete disaster. Paid premium pricing to stand in lines longer than the actual rides

The transformers ride had a 2.5 hour wait for 4 minutes of entertainment. Save your money and go literally any weekday instead when you can actually enjoy the attractions
