Shooting film around Thalang Road shophouses — morning light through Chinese architecture
Thalang Road between 6:30-7:30am has incredible golden hour light filtering through Sino-Portuguese shophouse arcades. Completely different energy from the touristy afternoon crowds when it's all harsh shadows.
Rawai fishing village during the evening catch return (4-5pm) captures authentic working life. Longtail boats pulling nets, weathered faces of actual fishermen, not posed sunset shots. Ask permission before photographing people — They're usually happy to chat.
For medium format detail work, the Chinese shrine inside Wat Chalong has intricate carved dragons and constant incense smoke creating natural depth. The morning light through the main hall around 8am is perfect for film grain.
Camera House on Montri Road in Phuket Town still processes C-41 and E-6 slide film properly. Takes 3 days, costs 180 THB for 36 exposures, but they know what they're doing with analog.
