Events Tips for Miami
Festivals, markets, seasonal happenings, and local events
Every May in Little Haiti (around NE 54th Street and 2nd Avenue), the Haitian community throws this incredible street festival with live compas music, traditional dancing, and food vendors selling proper spicy griot (fried pork) that will test your limits.
The griot at Mama's Kitchen stand is nuclear level — They use real scotch bonnets. Most vendors also have milder versions for tourists. Festival is free, food is $8-15 per plate. Usually second weekend of May but check Little Haiti Cultural Center for exact dates.
