Everyone goes to alamo square for the full house houses but they're just painted victorian houses. There are tons of others around the city without the tour bus crowds and selfie sticks everywhere.

Walk down steiner street or check out the houses in castro district. Same architecture, better for peaceful photos. You can appreciate the details when you're not surrounded by chaos.
