Morning peace at Saphan Hin Park — escaping Phuket's intensity
When Phuket's chaos overwhelms, I escape to specific early morning sanctuaries that restore sanity.
Saphan Hin Park at sunrise feels like a different planet. Local Thai people practice tai chi by the water, gentle 2km walking path with benches facing Chalong Bay. Opens 5am, completely peaceful energy compared to anywhere else on the island. Free parking, clean bathrooms, small coffee cart by 7am.
Wat Chalong before 7am offers another refuge. Temple grounds stay quiet except for monks' morning chanting echoing through the main hall. Sit in the gardens behind the main building where tourists never venture. No entry fee, surprisingly few people until tour buses arrive around 8:30am.
Take the early blue songthaew from Phuket Town to either location (25-40 baht) and avoid the scooter rental stress completely.
