Winter in Paris is actually magical if you dress for it
I moved here in November and was dreading my first Parisian winter, but honestly it's become my favorite season here. Yes it's cold and gray, but that's exactly why it's perfect.
The tourist crowds disappear after New Year, so you can actually enjoy the Louvre and Musée d'Orsay without fighting for space. Museums feel cozy instead of overwhelming. Plus hotel prices drop dramatically in January and February.
The key is proper layering - invest in a good wool coat and waterproof boots. Parisians don't mess around with winter fashion. Hot wine at Christmas markets keeps you warm while wandering, and nothing beats ducking into a warm café for chocolat chaud when it's drizzling outside.
Covered passages like Galerie Vivienne are perfect for rainy days. It's like having a whole shopping district indoors.
