Piazzale Michelangelo is peak-season tourist hell (but timing matters)
Everyone tells you piazzale michelangelo for sunset views. From april through september its packed with tour buses street vendors hawking plastic davids crowds taking identical photos. View is fine experience is miserable like times square with scenery
Walk 10 minutes uphill to san miniato instead during peak months. Same vista fraction of crowds no vendors plus beautiful church. Free unlike overpriced sunset bars near piazzale charging €8 spritz. Off season november through february piazzale becomes tolerable but san miniato stays superior
Been saying this years but tourists keep falling for guidebook hype. Your photo wont look different but youll enjoy taking it without fighting for space during busy periods
