The cats of Bastakiya are practically an attraction themselves. These strays have made the heritage district their domain and locals feed them regularly.

You'll spot them lounging in the windtower courtyards and narrow alleyways. They're friendly and add character to what could otherwise feel like a sterile heritage site. Each one seems to have claimed a specific courtyard as their territory.

I spent weeks in this neighbourhood and the cats became part of my daily routine. Much more personality than half the paid attractions.
