Rome restaurant service - why your waiter seems annoyed
Look, they don't hate you. You just don't understand Roman dining culture.
Romans eat dinner 8-9pm, not 6pm. Arriving early makes you look weird. Waiters won't rush you - leisurely meals are normal, not bad service. They won't bring the check until you ask.
Don't expect constant water refills or check-ins. They assume you're adult enough to ask if you need something. Tipping isn't expected - round up €1-2 for good service.
If service seems slow, you're probably dining at tourist hours when they're prepping for real dinner service.
