Everyone takes the first morning ferry to ko larn which means you arrive with 500 other tourists. If you're committed to visiting this popular island despite its limitations, the 11am ferry is way better - smaller crowds and you still get most of the day on the island.

Regular ferry from bali hai pier costs 30 thb one way, takes 45 minutes. Speedboats are 150 thb but only save 15 minutes and the ride is rougher. Last ferry back is 6pm, don't miss it unless you want an expensive speedboat charter.

Tawaen beach gets packed first, so head straight to tien beach if you want space to breathe. While other islands offer better snorkeling, ko larn works for basic beach time if you time your visit right.
