Art Deco buildings from Pattaya's 1970s boom period

Pattaya has some fascinating art deco architecture from its early tourism development in the 1970s. The old nipa lodge on beach road showcases classic tropical deco with curved balconies and pastel colors. Most tourists walk right past without noticing.

Check out the montien hotel facade and the original terminal building at bali hai pier for more examples. These buildings represent thailand's interpretation of miami beach styling adapted for tropical climate. Best photographed in late afternoon light.
