DON'T buy drinks at the first bar you see. Prices vary wildly - Chang beer ranges from 120 THB to 350 THB for the exact same bottle depending on where you sit. DON'T agree to any 'special show' without asking the exact price first. DON'T let anyone put a drink in your hand without confirming the cost.

The street performers are fine but they're not putting on a free show out of kindness. Have some small bills ready if you're gonna watch and take photos. And for the love of god, don't wear your nice watch or bring your passport.
