Wat Phra Khao Yai (Big Buddha Temple) — proper temple etiquette and best photo angles
The 18-meter golden Buddha is impressive but most tourists miss the proper way to experience this active temple. Arrive early when local worshippers come for morning prayers — Much more atmospheric than the midday tour bus crowds.
Dress code is strictly enforced: covered shoulders and knees, no shorts or tank tops. Remove shoes before entering any building. The best photo angle is from the lower parking area looking up — Captures the Buddha with Pattaya Bay in background.
Small donation box at the base (20-100 THB is appropriate). The temple cats are friendly but don't feed them. Free entry, free parking. Located on Pratumnak Hill between Pattaya and Jomtien.
