Uber surge pricing in manhattan is a scam. During rush hour or bad weather, yellow taxis use meter rate while uber can be 3x normal price. Wave down a taxi instead.

Taxis are faster for short trips because they know the streets and use bus lanes that uber drivers cant access. Plus no waiting around for your driver to find you in a crowd.

Only use uber for outer boroughs where taxis dont want to go, or late night when you cant find a cab. In manhattan during normal hours, stick with yellow.
