Melbourne's trams are mostly accessible but the stops aren't — wheelchair user reality check
New trams have level boarding and wheelchair spaces, but half the city stops still have massive gaps between platform and tram. Federation square, southern cross, melbourne central - these are your reliable accessible stops with proper platform heights.
The city circle tram is technically accessible but gets so packed with tourists you can't actually board. Route 96 to st kilda works much better for wheelchair users - newer stops and way less tourist crowds jamming the doors.
Download the ptv mobile app and filter for 'accessible services' - it'll show which specific tram services have low-floor vehicles running that day. Game changer for planning routes.
